Man on assault rap gets bail extension
Bjorn Burke, Staff Reporter

A man accused of using a stone to hit a woman in her head, and a bottle to slam her finger had his bail extended when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

He is 26-year-old Aston Campbell, charged with unlawful wounding.

The court heard that Campbell allegedly launched the assault on the female complainant using a stone to hit her on her head, cutting her, and using a bottle to hit her on her finger causing injuries subsequent to a brief argument.

Inquiring as to why he would do such a thing, Resident Magistrate Georgianna Fraser asked the man what transpired on the day in question.

"It's somebody I used to communicate with and text, but my wife came back to Jamaica," Campbell began to explain.

Resident Magistrate Georgianna Fraser ordered the man to return to court on June 4 for sentencing. A fingerprint order was also made.
