Improper overtaking contributes to Old Harbour Road crash

Rasbert Turner, STAR Writer

The St Catherine North police have confirmed that speeding and improper overtaking caused a fatal accident along the Old Harbour Road in St Catherine on Easter Monday.

The deceased has since been identified as 32-year-old David Wilks, a resident of Old Harbour, St Catherine.

"Our investigations revealed that Wilks had broke away from the line of traffic and was overtaking when he collided with vehicles travelling towards Spanish Town. We are therefore asking motorists to ease up on the speed as it often ends in fatality," a policeman said.

It was revealed further that Wilks was seen among friends earlier having a grand time at a popular beach in Portmore.

The police said about five persons are still hospitalised and that they are collecting further statements.
