Come August 2, Ninja Man and Downsound Records (DSR) will play host to a rather innovative concert concept, Taxi Operators Appreciation Day, Family Fun Day and Fish Fry.

The event will take place at Turtle River Park, Ocho Rios, St Ann.

There was a buzz surrounding the event as word spread last week. There will be islandwide auditions throughout the 14 parishes, looking for the most talented singer and DJs among taxi operators.

A brand-new Nissan Tida is up for grabs. The competition is limited to taxi operators, who are required to provide a valid taxi operator's driver's licence to enter.

It is open to route, company and JUTA taxi drivers. The event will also have a stage show in the night with performances from I-Octane, Professor Nuts, General Trees, Ninja Man, Nature, Nitty Kutchie, the DSR force and others.

MC duties will be handled by Irie FM's Elise Kelly and Ron Muschette. Music will be provided by Kilamanjaro, Rebel T, Alaska and Dwayne Pow from Stone Love.

The Family Fun Day will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with kids being granted free entry. There will be a special entry fee, five people can enter the venue for $1,000 each.

"This event has the potential to be very successful. We will pull all strings, promotional wise, to make this a reality," said DSR CEO Joseph Bogdanovich.
