The police's Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) confirmed the reports, stating that the incident took place shortly after 11 a.m. yesterday.

Witnesses on the scene told THE WEEKEND STAR that a woman, believed to be a co-worker of the victim, could be heard screaming for help as she attempted to fight off the assailant. Shortly afterwards, explosions were heard. It was later revealed that the restaurant employee was shot.

"If a did somebody weh did a ride a bicycle, it wouldn't so bad, but pon foot, and him get weh?" a female bystander, peeved by the incident, said to our news team.

According to witness reports, robbery may have been the motive behind the shooting, as the gunman allegedly made off with a bag belonging to the victim.

Up to press time, the condition of the man remained unknown. Investigations continue.
