Man pleads guilty to selling stones instead of chicken

A trickster who pleaded guilty in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday is to know his fate on May 28, when he will be sentenced.

Leonard Phinn is charged with larceny by trick.

The court heard that on the day of the incident, Phinn approached the complainant and decided to sell her 50 pounds of chicken and five gallons of cooking oil.

However, the complainant was duped by the accused man as he presented her with a box of stones, paper and water instead of the required items.

He also made off with her $5,000, but was later apprehended by the police.
