Accused bag thief gets new court date

A man accused of breaking into a car and stealing a bag containing sporting goods was offered bail when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

He is 22-year-old Vincent Charles, who pleaded "not guilty with explanation" to simple larceny.

The court heard that, on the day in question, the complainant, who parked his vehicle outside of a popular club located in New Kingston, returned to find the window tampered with. It is believed that the complainant then spotted Charles with a bag containing football gear that was previously inside the vehicle.

"Mi ask him weh him a do inna the vehicle, when mi check the things gone," the complainant said.

Subsequently, Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey offered Charles $40,000 bail with a surety. He was ordered to return to court on May 12 for trial. A fingerprint order was also made.
