Ginjah wins Linkage Award - Male Vocalist of the Year

It is clear that Ginjah is rapidly becoming one of the dominant voices in reggae music.

He had a wonderful run in 2013 with the monster hit, Sweet Killer. The single, produced by Germany- based record label, Silly Walks Discotheque, on the 'Honey Pot' rhythm, was one of the biggest hits of the year.

It came as no surprise on Saturday night when Ginjah was named the Male Vocalist of the Year at the annual Linkage Awards, held at the Evander Childs high school, Bronx, New York.

He beat out an impressive list of nominees which included Tarrus Riley, Christopher Martin, Romain Virgo and Gyptian to win the award.

The hard-working singer said he was pleased to win the award.

"I'm happy to know I have won this award. I have to give thanks to the Most High, all my fans and my supporters. I also have to give thanks to the organiser of the Linkage Awards for recognising my talent and my work.

"The mission has just begun, I'm working hard, not only for the upliftment of my career, but also for the upliftment Reggae music and Jamaica."

Ginjah is promoting a brand-new album, Urge to Love.

"The album is getting positive feedback from reggae-music lovers all over the world. It just got a wonderful review on Reggaeunited.com a few days ago," he said.

Ginjah's latest single, Insider (Police Man Story), is one of the hottest songs burning up local airwaves.

"What can I say about this song? It's a scorcher, it's just burning up the whole place, and it's a hot topic. Everywhere I go people are talking about it," he said.
