Man before court for fraud

A man was hauled before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday after he allegedly tendered fraudulent documents to secure a loan at a popular bank.

Charged with attempting to obtain money by means of forged documents, forgery and uttering forged documents is David Eccleston, who was fingerprinted.

The court heard that in December 2013, the accused went to a bank where he allegedly submitted employment statements, bank statements and salary slips to facilitate the loan application.

However, the bank in conducting their due diligence discovered that the documents were fraudulent, and the police were alerted. Eccleston is to return to court on May 21.
