Businessman accused of fraud

An automotive businessman, who is accused of taking money from a complainant to purchase a motor vehicle from Japan, will return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court tomorrow with the money he took.

Charged with fraudulent conversion is Craig Wilson.

The allegations are that on August 29, 2013, the complainant, a software developer, gave the accused US$2,375 to purchase a 2008 Nissan March motor vehicle from Japan.

The complainant approached Wilson, who he knew before, and asked for his assistance in acquiring a motor vehicle. Wilson offered to purchase the motor vehicle from Japan and asked the complainant for the money to conduct the transaction.

Both men agreed and the complainant made three separate money transfers to an account owned by Wilson. To date, the complainant has not received the car nor has the money been refunded, despite numerous requests.

The accused is expected to return to court on May 13 with the money in US currency.
