Accused woman beater's bail extended

A man who is accused of kicking his child's mother during a dispute over the child had his bail extended in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

Charged with assault is Anthony Webb, who is to return to court on July 1.

Allegations are that Webb pushed the complainant to the ground, causing her to hit her side, and that he also kicked her.

The accused told the court that he was fighting over the baby and hitting the complainant wasn't intentional.

"I am not 100 per cent if I had kicked her, but we had a fight over the baby. It's not like I jus' got up and start to fight her. We were fighting and she was the one who started the fight," the accused told the court.

RM Pusey ordered that the accused receive counselling and warn that she has the memory of an elephant. "Don't think that I forget the kick, enuh, but both of you need some counselling on parenting. Remember that when there is a child, it's no longer just about you," she said.
