Three arrested in separate gun, ammo busts

The police have seized three firearms and four rounds of ammunition and arrested three men in separate incidents in Clarendon and St Elizabeth on Saturday and Sunday.

In the first incident on Saturday, a team of officers seized two home-made firearms and one round of ammunition during operations at Carty Hill and Lampford district in Clarendon.

Reports from the Frankfield police are that about 2 a.m., lawmen searched several premises in the communities. Two males were observed acting suspiciously. They were accosted, searched and two home-made handguns and a .38 cartridge were seized. They were taken into custody and are expected to be charged.

In the other inicdent, a team of officers seized one firearm and three rounds of ammunition during an operation in Slipe district in Black River, St Elizabeth, on Sunday. One man was taken into custody in connection with the seizure.

Reports from the Black River police are that about 3:05 a.m., lawmen were in the area when gunshots were heard. The officers responded and accosted an armed man. During the incident, one .38 revolver and three .38 cartridges were seized.

The identity of the man is being withheld pending further investigations.

the police say investigations are continuing into both incidents.
