Emerging entertainer, Yola Moi, believes she took a big step forward in her fledgling career when she performed before a room full of veterans of reggae, during the Linkage Awards, held recently in New York.

Performing at her first awards show, she said it was tough but she believed she emerged with flying colours.

"I would say my first performance, at the Linkage Awards, was impacting because it was significantly different from any of the other acts," she told THE STAR. "I was told the whole room stopped what they were doing to take in my performance, as I took the audience by surprise when I came out strong, bursting with energy in my colours, then brought out my dancers. I had their undivided attention."

Performing her singles Nuh Wine Discreet and My Love, songs now available on iTunes, the 22-year-old artiste said the experience was nerve-racking but revealing. "It was my first time performing at an award show," she confessed. "It was more nerve-racking for me than any other performance I've done, because, this time, I was not just performing for your typical audience, I was also performing for many veterans of Jamaican music. I got the chance to interact with a couple of them, like Tony Rebel, Carlene Davis, Queen Ifrica, I-Octane and others and I got some great advice from a few."

She urged her growing fan base to join her Facebook page at www.facebook.com/YolaMoiMuzik or follow her on Twitter/instagram @YolaMoiMuzik.
