Two hauled before court for fraud

Two men were hauled before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in the use of a fraudulent credit card to purchase goods.

Charged with conspiracy to defraud are Barrington Trottman and Lerone Nicholson, who were ordered fingerprinted. A third man who was involved escaped.

It is alleged that on the day of the incident, the two accused and another man went to shops 35 and 37 in the Sovereign Centre where they allegedly purchased goods valued at more than over $20,000 and $37,000, which they paid for with a fraudulent credit card.

The police were alerted and during an altercation with lawmen, the third man escaped.

They were remanded until May 27.
