Ex-employee accused of theft to be sentenced

An ex-employee who used keys he had in his possession to enter and rob his former place of employment will be sentenced on May 30.

Last Friday when the matter was called up in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court, the accused, Omar Weatherly, pleaded guilty.

Weatherly is charged with shopbreaking and larceny.

The court was told that Weatherly entered Bucknor's Restaurant and stole $10,000 worth of goods, which were later returned after he was caught.

The court heard that Weatherly used to work at the restaurant, however, he was fired.

Allegations are that he returned to the restaurant and used keys he still had in his possession to enter and stole the items, which included chicken and seasoning, among other food items.

A fingerprint order was made and Resident Magistrate Opal Smith requested a copy of his records for sentencing.
