Mineral Boss Records, a music-production entity based in Caymanas Bay, St Catherine, has been making a name for itself in local music circles.
The label is headed by Cleon Jones, a 33-year-old resident of the community, who sees the venture as one that can uplift and bolster interest in the area.
"Mineral Boss Records is all about positive music and creative talent. It's a mixture of a lot of genres of music, so we are quite unique in our own way," Jones said in a media release.
The label is focused on harnessing talented youths in and around the community. However, a number of established acts have worked with the label.
"We have released songs for QQ, Chuck Fenda, Richie Spice, Anthony Cruz, and I Octane is going to be doing some work with us this week.We also put out songs for up-and-coming artistes such as Burning Kry (who is signed to the label), and Radijah," said Jones.
Among the label's releases are Rasta Govern It, by Chuck Fenda and QQ; Babylon Burning, by Richie Spice; Little Country Boy by Anthony Cruz; and Scotch Bonnet, by Burning Kry.
The label's latest project is the 'Paint Party' dancehall beat, which features Wine Harder, by Radijah and Burning Kry and Shoob Dem Away, by QQ.
Jones, who also runs a restaurant in the community, said his networking and relations with residents have contributed to the survival of his businesses.
"I am a humble person and I interact with people on a regular basis. Being a people person opens many doors for you when it comes to business," said Jones who manages the Nature's Paradise Restaurant and Lounge, a family business.
Jones has plans to expand his music enterprise into video production.
"We want to do videos, produce top-quality music and to promote our music to the world," he said.
