Haitian artiste: an international smash

Rooby Man - Contributed

It has been a little while since we last heard from the award-winning, Haitian, dancehall/pop sensation, Rooby Man, who wooed audiences in Jamaica on his 2012 promo tour with several event features and memorable guest appearances on national television programmes such as Dancin' Dynamite and CVM at Sunrise.

Having already made a name for himself throughout the Chicago underground music scene, with hit singles such as Showtime, She Bought It For Me and Punishment, Rooby Man has opened shows for the likes of R. Kelly, Bone Crusher, Do or Die, Bobby V, Trina, and Miguel.

In 2013, he took a brief hiatus to revamp his management team and has been working harder than ever before, edging his way into mainstream media with features in publications such as Rolling Out Magazine, Chicago Defenders newspaper; Interviews on programmes such as ABC 7's The Greatness In You and VH1's The Hungriest Rapper in Chicago.

Rooby Man is promoting his latest single, Take Her Home With Me. His promotional tour kicked off in Brazil and then rounded up in Florida. In spite of tornado threats, his tour was a great success with features at various nightclubs, on several broadcast media and a live performance at the Sun Life Stadium.

Only 12 years ago, Rooby Man arrived in the US barely speaking English. Yet with immense determination and a strong work ethic, he is living his dream and hopes that his journey will not only inspire other Haitians but anyone coming from impossible circumstances to aim high and achieve great things. "I want people to be inspired when they talk about me," he explained.
