Sentencing postponed for couple charged with harbouring minor

A couple, who allegedly had a missing minor at their home, had their sentencing postponed before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Forty-one year-old Eric Riley and 21-year-old Kerry-Ann Green are charged with harbouring a minor. They both pleaded guilty.

The Crown alleges that a 13-year-old minor had been reported missing from May 22, about 1:00 pm, and was found days later at the couple's home.

A statement was given by the minor that she had been staying at the address from the time she went missing.

When Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey asked why they shouldn't be sent to prison, Riley told her he saw her on the street in a community and took her home. He said she slept on the bed while they slept on the floor.

He also told the RM that the girl left days after being taken but returned.

The couple is to return to court on July 18 for sentencing.
