Man remanded for knifing brother to death
Rasbert Turner, STAR Writer

A man who stabbed his brother to death was remanded when he appeared in court, as checks needed to be done to show that he could stay at another location if granted bail.

Errol Reid, of Waterford, St Catherine, is charged with the death of his brother Patrick. He was represented in court by Attorney-at-law Lancelot Clarke Jr, under the instruction of Hugh Wildman.

Clarke, in applying for bail, told the court his client acted in self defence.

He added that, at the time of the incident, he was being attacked by his brothers, who was armed with a baseball bat and a knife. In trying to save himself, he was stabbed.

Resident Magistrate Vaughn Smith was told that the accused, if granted bail, would not return to the residence where the incident took place.

He was then ordered remanded until proper verification of another address could be made.

Both men were at home in Waterford when an argument developed over the usage of water.

There was a physical confrontation during which Patrick Reid was stabbed and later died as a result of injuries received.

His 43-year-old brother, Errol, was charged for his death.
