Accused thief freed

A no-case submission was made in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court recently in a matter that has been before the court since 1996.

In the matter, Hamlet Joseph was charged with housebreaking and larceny. He was charged along with two other persons; however, one of the persons died, and the warrant is yet to be served on the other.

The court took the decision to dispose of the matter after the complainant could not be located.

The Crown alleges that on the day of the incident, goods which belonged to the complainant were found on Joseph's premises.

However, his attorney said the goods were put there by a family member of Joseph because of impending rainfall.

Joseph was subsequently freed of the charges.
