With the glut in old-school-themed parties attracting patrons in droves, promotion team Power Circle is hoping to score similar success with their latest venture D'wali. Dubbed the young people throwback party, D'wali takes place this Saturday at Triple Century sports bar in New Kingston.
Andrew Ellis of Power Circle, said: "Although other events go with a throwback theme, D'wali is the first and only retro party to focus on the new millennium era of hits (2000-2008). Hence the tag "the young people throwback party".
This is the third staging of the party which is held in June and November.
The members of Power Circle include Rogen 'Ruption' Walker and Warren 'Creep' Lee.They are responsible for other popular parties including WTF, Cocoloco and 5IV3.
"We wanted to focus on something different. We all grew up in different times so the music grew up on and heard through high school and college is not what's being played at other retro events. They focus on music that our parents grew up on. So D'wali focuses on hip hop, dancehall and pop," Ellis explained.
This edition of D'wali is dubbed the Sports Day edition. Patrons are encouraged to wear their favourite house colours and be prepared to let loose.
Musical selecions will come from Chromatic, DJ Lank and SHS, which comprises DJ Nicco, Supastylz and Copper Ash. Admission is $1500 and ladies are 2-4-1 before 1 a.m.
