Driver allegedly caught with ganja in car

Bail was granted to a man in the Corporate Area Resident Magis-trate's Court on Wednesday after he was spotted with more than 20 pounds (9.07 kilograms) of ganja in his motor vehicle.

Charged with possession of, trafficking and dealing in ganja is McNeil Robinson.

The court heard that on the day of the incident, Robinson was driving along Orange Street, downtown Kingston, when he was spotted by the police who searched his vehicle and discovered 28 pounds (12.7 kilograms) of ganja.

In court, Senior Resident Magistrate Georgiana Fraser was surprised that Robinson had been given $700,000 bail.

She said "You are driving a car with 28 pounds of ganja that has a high smell. Even a person who is blind, deaf and dumb knows that ganja is in there."

Robinson will return to court on June 20.
