Counterfeit US dollar notes seized

The Morant Bay police on Monday night seized a large quantity of counterfeit US dollar notes after intercepting and searching two cars.

Reports reaching THE STAR are that the police, acting on information, intercepted a grey Toyota motor car in Yallahs with three persons on board and searched the vehicle. A large quantity of counterfeit US dollar notes were found in that vehicle.

The police then intercepted a Nissan motor car in Morant Bay where a similar discovery was made.

The police said all the US$50 notes had the same serial number and it was a similar state for the US$20 notes. The police would not disclose the quantity of money found or reveal the area from which the occupants of the motor cars reside.

Each car contained a man and two women. The six were taken into custody for questioning pending charges later this week.
