Motor vehicle accident causes power outage

A motor vehicle accident along a section of Elizabeth Avenue, Kingston 10, left several sections of Red Hills Road and surrounding areas without electricity Tuesday.

Reports are that at approximately 12:09 p.m. a white Nissan Tiida motorcar collided into a utility pole, resulting in a massive fire as a result of the impact. Fire personnel were called to the scene to extinguish the blaze.

A witness told THE STAR: "I only heard the screeching and the explosions. I saw the man coming out [of the vehicle], and I saw him running back and forth."

Police personnel from the Constant Spring Police Station on the scene revealed to THE STAR that the cause of the accident is unknown, as the driver of the motor vehicle fled the scene.

The incident left several Elizabeth Avenue residents puzzled, with one particular resident bemoaning the damage caused by the accident to a utility post located on her property.

No fatalities or injuries were reported. Investigations continue.
