Man held with lost phone given a chance

A male worker who was found with a cell phone on the University of the West Indies campus was given a chance when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Thursday.

No evidence was offered in the matter against Dain Thomas who was charged with larceny by finding.

It is alleged that the accused saw the complainant's phone and confiscated it.

Thomas told the court that he didn't understand the law and he found the phone and took it to the police.

"I didn't know how the law work your honour. if I am found guilty I wont have a job. Your honour, this will never happen again," Thomas told the court.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey before giving Thomas a chance said that ignorance of the law is no excuse.
