Security guard joyride leads to arrest

A security guard employed to an insurance company, who allegedly drove away a company vehicle without permission, was hauled before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Dwayne Moss is charged with driving motor vehicle without owner's consent and creating public mischief.

He pleaded not guilty.

The court heard that on June 9, Moss, who is stationed at a popular insurance company in the Corporate Area, allegedly drove away the vehicle, a 2009 Suzuki APV, for which he had no permission to drive, since only two company employees are authorised to do so.

Moss also allegedly took home an individual. Sometime during the vehicle's disappearance from the insurance company, it was involved in a motor vehicle accident.

This prompted Moss to call the police, leading them on a wild goose chase to investigate a fictitious robbery.

He was later arrested and charged.

Moss is to return to court on July 21.
