Cops probe elderly man's killing

The St Catherine North police have launched a probe to determine if an elderly man was shot by a passenger, whom he may have given a ride in his car, while on his way home.

Information reaching THE STAR is that the deceased, 58-year-old Uriah Elliston from Pedro District in the parish, is known to be a Good Samaritan, who family members would often warn not to pick up strangers.

However, on Monday, Elliston's relatives were left stunned following news that he was allegedly murdered in Bamboo, near Spanish Town.

The manner in which he was killed also triggered suspense.

THE STAR gathered that about 10 p.m., the Toyota Corolla motorcar being driven by Elliston, crashed into an embankment.

Reports reaching our news desk are that the deceased crashed into the embankment after being shot. He was reportedly found with a gunshot wound to the back of his head.

The Spanish Town police told our news team that an investigation into the suspected murder was ongoing.
