Accused conwoman denied bail

A woman who has been evading police since July 2012 on allegations that she collected money from unsuspecting persons for visa, had her bail application denied when she appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Charged with intent to defraud is Stephanie Cole-Christie. She pleaded not guilty.

The court heard that Cole-Christie obtained $200,000 from the complainant to get a United States visa. The court was told that a report was made to the police in July 2012 and an investigation launched.

The investigating officer in the matter also informed the court that Cole-Christie had other matters before the court.

A fingerprint order was made and Cole-Christie is to return on October 6.
