A video showing the apprehension of a burglar by a local private security company has been posted to social networking site, Facebook.

The video, 45 seconds long, shows the burglar, clad in red shorts and a white merino, in handcuffs and seated on the floor of the house he attempted to burgle in Montego Bay, St James.

A security team was trying to get the handcuffed man to look into the camera.

A representative of the security company said the alarm of one of their clients was triggered shortly after 5 p.m. on June 11 and its team responded.

"They arrived probably in about seven minutes, saw signs of a break-in and heard some noise on the inside at which point we called the police and the client who assisted our team in entering," the representative said, while pointing out that the intruder was unarmed.

He was later handed over to the Freeport Police Station in Montego Bay, the representative said.

However, the policeman on duty said he was unaware of the burglar being handed over.
