Couple face court for injurying pregnant woman

A woman and her boyfriend were hauled before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Wednesday, after they allegedly injured a pregnant woman who spilled water on the floor of a house.

Norris Satchell and Desmone Rhoden are charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.

The Crown alleges, that on June 21, about 5:30 p.m., the complainant was at home eating crab, when some water spilled on the floor. She went for a mop to clean the floor; however, she was attacked by Rhoden who poured a cup of hot soup on her chest. This resulted in severe burns to both of her breasts.

Norris then intervened during the fray and threw stones at the complainant, which resulted in injuries to her left hand.

Rhoden is to be sentenced on July 28, while Satchell was offered bail in the sum of $40,000.
