Manchester-based singer Dahlia is officially releasing her first single and she expects it to be her launching pad into the Jamaican music industry.

The song, Mad Ova Mi, is a collaboration with dancehall artiste Masicka. It was produced by Sanjay 'Freeze' Pennant and his co-producer, Ngeno 'Norris' Griffiths from Zionnoiz Freeze Records Label.

The 20-year-old singer Dahlia says she has released songs in the past, but Mad Ova Mi is her first official single.

"I want to make this my official single. This song, I am just in love with it. If I continue to push it out more, I know this is it," she told The STAR.

Already, she has hosted a video launch in Mandeville that was well received, and she has also been making the rounds on various TV and radio stations.

"I just want everybody to hear it. It is a very good song and I have a lot of faith in it. It's catchy so I expect a whole lot from it," she said.

But the Trinidad-born singer, who attended the Hampton High School in St Elizabeth, said she plans to do additional promotion for the song in Trinidad.

"In the past when I used to promote my songs in Trinidad, it was very easy-flowing. Going to Trinidad, we have a lot of things lined up. They support me a lot because I am Jamaican and Trinidadian," Dahlia said.

"It's totally different from Jamaica. In Trinidad, promoting is easier. It is really difficult for me here just for people to even recognise me or know my name."

Still excited about Mad Ova Mi, Dahlia says she will continue to promote it although she is busy in the studio making other "nice, happy, clean music".
