Miss Teen Portmore elimination show today

The Lasco/Curves Miss Teen Portmore Scholarship Pageant 2014 elimination show and after party will take place today on the roof of the Portmore Pines Plaza at 7 p.m.

This year's major sponsors include Lasco, Progressive Grocers, Shoppers Fair, Pepsi, Ocean Spray, Flavour Splash water, CVM TV, the Jamaica Urban Transit Company, Royal View Hotel and YP Seaton & Associates.

Silver sponsors include Care furniture, Portmore Bone & Eye Clinic, Maxie Department Store, and Docutech.

Octron Promotions, promoters of the pageant, received more than 460 applications and has spread its network in more than 65 communities in the municipality of Portmore in St Catherine.

The organisers reported that the more than 2,000 $300 tickets have been sold and only a few $800 reserve tickets were left up to last night.

The pageant deals primarily with the contestants' knowledge of current affairs, Jamaican culture, and history. It aims to assist the personal development of young ladies through grooming sessions, public speaking, and social development. It also contributes to their educational development.

One major criteria on is for applicants to have a least a C+ average, as the organisers promote educational growth and vision for teens. The girls must be between the ages of 14 and 17 years and must exhibit a talent. The Grand Coronation Show is scheduled for next month.
