$10,000 fine for hitting man with stones

A man who is accused of hitting another man with stones was fined $10,000 when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

Prince Watson was ordered to pay the fine or serve six months in prison.

It is alleged that during a dispute recently, the accused threw stones at the complainant, causing his hand to be injured.

When Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey asked the complainant if he had also injured the accused, he said that he defended himself.

"I didn't hit him. I was going home, your honour, and this man was asking me why I was looking at him. Your honour, this man break into my house before, and I reported it to the station," the complainant told the court.

However, the accused told the court that he and the complainant were in a thumping match. "Your honour, I was passing and me and him just thump it out. I fling a big stone and it jus pass him," Watson said before he was sentenced.
