Accused charged for robbing gold chain

A trial date of July 28 was set in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court following an incident in which a man was robbed of his gold chain.

Charged with robbery with aggravation is Rohan Murray. He was fingerprinted.

The court heard that the complainant was at a bar along Princess Street in Kingston when he was allegedly attacked by the accused along with three other men, one of who grabbed his gold chain valued at $40,000.

This led to them wrestling. In an act of self-defence, the complainant pulled his licenced firearm and fired a shot into the air causing the robbers to flee. However, the accused fell while trying to escape.

He was later accosted by the complainant and handed over to the police.

A piece of the gold chain was recovered. Murray is to return to court later this month.
