Wanted man apprehended by police

The St James police arrested and charged a wanted man last Wednesday.

The man, 26-year-old Orane Bernard otherwise called 'City Puss' of Flanker, St James, was wanted in connection with three murders committed in Vietnam in the parish on December 14, 2006.

Police said Bernard was arrested on warrant at the Sangster's International Airport after he fled the island for the United States of America the same year.

Reports are that about 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2006, three men were at a premises in Vietnam when they were attacked and killed by gunmen. The dead men were identified as 20-year-old Romaine White otherwise called 'Nion', 45-year-old Garth Cooke and Lloyd Hudson all of Flanker.

Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Acroy Sterling and Lennox Bernard who were later charged. However, Bernard, who had fled the country, returned to the island last Wednesday and was held by the police.

He was later charged. He is to appear before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court later this month.

In the meantime, the divisional commander for St James, Senior Superintendent Egbert Parkins, commended the men and women under his command for their hard work and intelligence gathering that led to the swift arrest of Bernard.
