Fake travel agent remanded

A man pretending to be a travel agent was further remanded when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Thursday.

Charged with obtaining money by false pretence is 33-year-old Jason Clarke from August Town, St Andrew.

According to reports, the complainant was introduced to the accused by a friend.

It is alleged that on March 24 around 5 p.m., the complainant met with Clarke in Papine Square in St Andrew, where she provided him with $28,000 as payment for a plane ticket to Barbados.

When the time for the delivery of the ticket had passed and the accused failed to provide the plane ticket or cash, the police were summoned and Clarke was subsequently arrested.

Clarke is to return to court for mention on July 22.
