Bail extension for two on drug rap
Christopher Thomas, STAR Writer

WESTERN BUREAU:

The case against two St James men who were reportedly held with more than two pounds of cocaine last March was last Wednesday deferred to September 2 in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court.

Hugh Roach from Westgate Hills, and Kirk Levey from Porto Bello are charged with possession of and dealing in two pounds and 3.24 ounces of cocaine. They had their bails extended.

It is alleged that on March 6, 2013, 5:20 p.m., a police team on operation in Westgate Hills saw Roach and Levey on the front patio of Roach's house.

Roach allegedly attempted to hide a plastic bag under his chair, but it was retrieved and found to contain a rectangular package wrapped in masking tape, which, when cut open, had a white, powdery substance resembling cocaine. Roach and Levey were arrested and charged.

"If it pleases your honour, the prosecution has not been able to obtain phone records in this matter," clerk of the court Natalie Malcolm told presiding magistrate Carolyn Tie.

"So the bottom line is, we are where we were on the last occasion," RM Tie replied.

The case was subsequently set for mention on September 2.
