André Williams, STAR Writer

A local reggae artiste is now thankful to be alive after a daring gun battle with two armed men who attacked him at his residence on Emancipation Day, THE STAR understands.

Information reaching our news desk is that the artiste was returning home when he was pounced upon by two unknown assailants.

"I went out on the road with a friend. I returned home about 9:05 p.m. and used the remote to open the gate. I asked my friend to open the gate on the car porch so I could drive in. I drove in and was able to park then I heard my friend bawl out. I thought it was the dogs." he said.

He continued, "When I looked I saw two men and one of dem fired a shot in my direction as I was about to exit. Mi use reflex and returned fire and dem run in the same direction they were coming from, which is my neighbour's house."

THE STAR was told that the entire incident was captured on surveillance camera, which has since been turned over to the police.

Our news team understands also that the artiste had previously reported to the police that a member of his community allegedly made threats against his life.

THE STAR gathered that the gunmen were wearing black hoodies and long sleeve shirts and appeared to be in their mid 20s.

The artiste told THE STAR that he is glad that the entire footage was captured on tape.

He said, "The police came and did their forensic thing. They can't say dem nuh have nothing to work with because people life at risk and they saw where the men were coming from and where they ran."

When THE STAR contacted the Spanish Town police our news team was told that an investigation into the matter was ongoing.
