A man accused of slashing a bus conductor in the face was given the shock of his life when it was revealed that it would cost him a whopping $330,000 for his alleged victim's plastic surgery. He was further remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Friday.

Charged with wounding with intent is Delton Davis who pleaded 'guilty with explanation'.

Allegations are that on the day of the incident, the complainant was aboard a bus when Davis is said to have used a ratchet knife to cut him in his face, causing severe injuries.

It was revealed that the complainant was admitted to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) where he received 19 stitches.

When the matter was first called up in court on August 7, Davis shared his story of how the incident transpired.

"Two yute attack me, and one a dem run inna the bus, and the knife ketch him by accident," said Davis, who attempted to explain the moments leading up to the incident.

"Oh, so he (the complainant) was an innocent bystander," Resident Magistrate (RM) Georgiana Fraser remarked.

During that proceeding, the RM ordered that Davis be made responsible for the costs associated with cosmetic surgery for the complainant.

"I want you to get the invoice from the plastic surgeon and carry it come," RM Fraser requested of the complainant. "You going to pay for it," she told Davis.

On Friday, it was revealed that the plastic surgery would cost $330,000, much to the dismay of a visibly agitated Davis who requested time to pay in instalments.

Davis' sister, who appeared in court, stated: "He's working, but him can pay the money a month time."

"This look like Courts Jamaica Limited to you?" RM Fraser told the sister. "I'm going to give you until the 20th of August. You can come back and let me know what's happening then."
