Reggae star Chris Martin continues to receive huge accolades from his contemporaries from other genres in the recording industry.

In May this year, recording icon Stevie Wonder turned up at a Chris Martin concert at the Savoy Entertainment Centre in Los Angeles and praised the Jamaican singer for his outstanding work. "I loved your performance. You did great," the 22-time Grammy-Award-winning entertainer told Martin then.

Since that time, Martin, one of the biggest stars to emerge from the Digicel Rising Stars, currently in its 11th season, has constantly been performing around the world and has released new singles and videos. Among them was Let Her Go, a cover of Passenger's megahit. The video for the American folk singer's original that was posted on YouTube two years ago, has more than 360 million views.

Martin's cover version, the audio track, was posted on YouTube in November 2013 and has so far racked up close to a million views. The music video that was posted on July 11 so far has close to 100,000 views. Among those viewers was Passenger himself. "There have been so many brilliant cover versions of Let Her Go, but this one has got to be one of my favourites. Absolutely amazing!! Thanks Christopher Martin," the multiplatinum recording star posted on August 3 on his Facebook page that has more than 2.3 million 'likes'.

The exposure could prove to be massive for Martin. "it s a wonderful thing to have the cover recognised by the original singer, but not only recognised, but that he sought to share it with the world," said Martin of the post.

Martin's manager Kingy Lettman said the success of the song and Passenger's endorsement demonstrates that Martin has begun to transcend boundaries.
