7.4 lbs of cocaine seized at nmia, Sangster int'l

Members attached to the Area One Transnational Crime and Narcotics Division and the Ports Division seized more than 7.4 pounds of cocaine during a two-day long operation at the Norman Manley and Sangster international airports.

Four persons were arrested and charged with various breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.

Last Friday, the team carried out an operation at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA). Three female Americans were arrested after they were searched and cocaine weighing a total of 2.72 kg (6 lbs) was found.

Charged are 32-year-old Tamesha Fillmore, 31-year-old Jennitta Robinson, and 26-year-old Lory Fillmore.

Tamesha Fillmore and Robinson were scheduled to appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday, while Lory Fillmore is scheduled to appear tomorrow to answer charges of possession of and dealing in cocaine and attempting to export cocaine.

On Saturday, 26-year-old Dominic Brissett, of Cornwall Court, St. James was also arrested at the Sangster International Airport after cocaine weighing 0.64 kg (or 1.4 lbs) was found on his person.

He is scheduled to appear in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate Court today, where he, too, will answer to charges of possession of, dealing in cocaine and attempting to export cocaine.
