Accused fuel thief freed
Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A St Catherine man who was charged with the theft of a quantity diesel fuel from West Indies Aluminum Company (Winalco) was freed in the Linstead Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

He is Rohan Williamson of Spanish Town.

Allegations are that the accused was caught in January 2012 collecting fuel from a service truck which was being taken away to be dismantled.

In his defence, the accused said he was granted permission by a supervisor to removed the oil.

Defence attorney Lancelot Clarke Jnr convinced the court that the supervisor has since left the company.

He said that the question of ownership cannot be established. Williamson was subsequently freed by the court.
