The Office of The Children's Advocate (OCA) says it is shocked and saddened by reports of the beheading of a two- year-old in Roadside district, St Ann.

In a release, the OCA says it wishes to extend its deepest sympathies and condolences to the family of the child during this difficult time.

"Whenever the office receive news of such a heinous report it always affects our sensibilities, as the level of violence against our children is unacceptable and we must as a nation stand up against these atrocities. Absolutely no parent or guardian should be forced to come to terms with losing a child in such a vicious manner," Children's Advocate Diahann Gordon Harrison said in the release.

"At this time we do not have all the facts surrounding the incident, however, you can rest assured that the OCA stands ready to give the police its full support in ensuring that this matter is thoroughly investigated," Gordon Harrison added.

The OCA will be dispatching its Emergency Focal Point Team to the Roadside district community, to ascertain further information on the matter.
