Woman who beat another with a stick fined

A woman accused of using a stick to beat another woman was fined when she appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Charged with assault occasioning bodily harm is Sidonna Spence, who pleaded 'guilty with explanation'.

It is alleged that on the day of the incident, the accused and the female complainant got into an altercation that turned physical. In a fit of rage, the accused woman was said to use a stick to hit the complainant repeatedly causing injuries to her left hand.

Enquiring about what took place on the day in question, Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey urged the accused woman to speak on the matter.

"Yes ma'am, she fast with me and me and her have a argument. Then she take a stick and lick me, then she run inna the yard and me lick her back," said Spence, explaining her reason for the supposed attack.

Subsequently, the sitting magistrate ordered Spence to pay a fine of $10,000 or serve six months in prison. A fingerprint order was also made against her.
