Yung JR sends a 'General' message

Last week Thursday, up-and-coming entertainer Yung JR launched the music video for his new single, General.

Held at Club View on Eastwood Park Road, St Andrew, the launch saw friends, family and musicians out in support of the rising act.

Yung JR sends an uplifting message in the roots-reggae-themed music video and single.

"The sound idea of the track came from the Ini Kamoze, Black Uhuruh era. And the video gives a history of Orange Street, downtown Kingston, back in the day. If you listen to the track and watch the video, you'll see and hear it. It's more than just a song as well, it's a message. The youth of today need to hear this message of the General," said Yung JR, son of reggae legend Junior Reid.

General is the second single from Yung JR's soon-to-be released EP, Start The Movement.

The previous single, Raggamuffin, is an equally impressive effort. The dancehall-flavoured song opened the eyes of reggae/dancehall fans worldwide to the sound of the young entertainer.

General is already doing well on YouTube, racking up a few thousands views in only two days of being released.

Fresh from a US tour with the One Blood Family, Yung JR is gearing up to begin working on other projects with his blood and musical brother Adoney Reid.
