Flourgon tells artistes to watch what they create

Veteran dancehall artiste Flourgon is encouraging young artistes to be mindful of the music they put out because what they represent now may not be what they want to be remembered for.

"I just want to tell the youth dem to do the best in music as they can do and ease off some of the rude lyrics, 'cause everything you do now gonna come back around and haunt you. Just do your thing with love. I love all the young entertainers but just be careful what you are saying 'cause anything you say or record will be there for a long time," he told THE STAR following his performance at Sanchez Live at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre last Thursday.

The deejay, who has such as We Run Tings, Jump and Shock Out, and Working My Way Back To You featuring Sanchez, thrilled the audience with his impromptu performance. Noting that he loves keeping a low profile, he said that he is still actively touring and has several shows coming up.

"Me is not a person that very loud inna the media but me deh all over the place. My work becomes like a classic so they always keep the classic shows and I work, and my work is always clean. As an artiste, you keep yourself clean and not in any problems and spread pure love. Mi just come from Barbados in January and I am going to Trinidad next month and then Ochi and Montego Bay then back to Barbados, then off to New York, then get ready for Australia," he shared.

In 2020, Flourgon reached a settlement with pop star Miley Cyrus, after he and his legal team in 2018 sued the artiste for copyright infringement for her song We Can't Stop. His team posited that it resembled Flourgon's We Run Tings which he coined at age 16. Now, three years later he says he continues to help his community as best as possible.

"I just keep myself on a low profile and give thanks for life. I try to do the best and show love in my community and share with the people 'cause you know a lot of people need help so they always turn to the artiste, but I am always giving thanks. I just want to know that my yutes have everything in control. I have my likkle studio weh mi do mi likkle thing, and I just want to leave love for the people. We are not rich people but we do what we can," he said.
