Drip King’s dance sends ‘Jesus Party’ viral
Clarendon-based dancer Zorro, aka 'Drip King', is making an impact in the social media landscape, as the 'Jesus Party Challenge' that he created for the Jesus Party song by Skeritt Bwoy is going viral on TikTok
The impact of the dance routine has sent both the song and the Jesus Party Vol 1 album rising up the Electronic iTunes charts in America. Drip King explained how the idea for the dance came about.
"Skeritt Bwoy and the positive message the song was pushing gave me the idea for the challenge on TikTok. Right now, I have over 99,000 followers on TikTok. The Jesus Party Challenge can only go up from here. Dancers from all over the world have been joining in and making videos doing the dance challenge. You have people from Korea, Japan, Colombia, Venezuela, Nigeria, Jamaica, and even Antigua and America," said Drip King.
Jesus Party Vol 1 reached number one on the iTunes chart, while the song peaked at number five.
Skeritt Bwoy, best known for dancing in the Major Lazer-Vybz Kartel hit song Pon Di Floor, is quite upbeat about Jesus Party.
"I was almost in tears over the outpouring of support the song and album have been getting. A friend brought the charts to my attention when the single was at number 47. A few hours later, the album hit number one. Only God and my community can pull off a move like that. I am incredibly humbled and grateful to everyone still purchasing the album," said Skeritt Bwoy.
Jesus Party was released a year ago. It was produced by Skeritt Bwoy.
The artiste, who was born in Antigua, currently resides in New York. He has been a born-again Christian for the past 12 years.
"Music has always been with me. I was born into soca in Antigua, I lived out hip-hop in the Bronx, and I was adopted into dancehall and reggae by Jamaicans. Then I went on tour with EDM, and later I was saved by grace with the gospel. My entire life has a soundtrack," said Skeritt Bwoy, whose given name is Dale Richardson.
