381 new COVID cases as three more Jamaicans die from virus

Three more Jamaicans including one who tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours, have died as a result of the coronavirus, increasing the island's COVID death tally to 672.

All three of the deceased are from Kingston and St Andrew, two men aged 54 and 48, and a 68 year old woman. 

Meanwhile, of the 1,256 samples tested in the last 24 hours, 381 returned positive results increasing total confirmed cases to 42,500 with 22,634 being active.

Of the new cases, 175 are males and 206 are females, with ages ranging from 9 days to 101 years.

Kingston and St Andrew recorded the most new cases with 81, followed by St Catherine with 72.

St Ann with two had the least amount of new infections.

In the meantime, there were 111 more recoveries, pushing the total to 18,896.

Some 456 persons are in hospital with 30 being moderately and 49 critically ill.

Fourteen people remian in government quarantine, while 28,207 are quarantined at home.
