Five more COVID deaths, 61 new cases
Jamaica on Wednesday recorded five COVID-19 fatalities, increasing the tally to 1,028.
All five of the deceased are men, three from the parish of St James, two aged 66 and an 86-year-old, whose deaths were previously under investigation, and two from the parish of St Catherine aged 75 and 53.
Meanwhile, there were 61 new cases with ages ranging from two years to 80 years, pushing the total to 49,564 with 19,836 being active.
Of the new cases, 31 are men and 30 are women.
A total of 2,181 tests were conducted.
The country's positivity rate stands at 6.9%.
In the meantime, there were 151 more recoveries, increasing the total to 28,333.
Some 127 persons are in hospital with 21 being moderately ill and nine critically ill.
