Three more COVID deaths, 23 new cases

Three more Jamaicans have died as a result of COVID-19, moving total virus fatalities to 1,037.

The deceased are: an 89-year-old woman from Kingston and St Andrew, a 55-year-old woman from Westmoreland and a 52-year-old woman from St Elizabeth. 

Meanwhile of the 1,953 samples tested in the last 24 hours, 23 returned positive results increasing the tally to 49, 735 with 19,396 being active.

Of the new cases, 15 are women and eight are men, with ages ranging from 11 years to 87 years.

In the meantime, there were 142 more recoveries, increasing the total to 28,935.

Some 119 persons are in hospital with 25 being moderately ill and five critically ill.

The country's positivity rate now stands at 7.7%.
