Transport Authority warns taxi operators against overcharging fares
The Transport Authority is warning the operators of public passenger vehicles to immediately desist from overcharging fares.
The authority says it has received complaints from several commuters that taxi operator have been issuing notices of increased fares in the Kingston Metropolitan Transport Region (KMTR).
The Transport Authority says there has been no fare increases since the start of the year.
It said its operation teams will be monitoring this situation closely and operators found to be unlawfully deceiving passengers will be prosecuted under regulation 129 (d) of the Road Traffic Regulations.
